PlaidyBus is a mobile painting and arts studio serving the greater Columbia, SC area. As a fully renovated, temperature controlled school bus outfitted with lights, music, seating, and paint stations, we allow you to turn any event into a paint party. The bus contains the mess so you don’t have to stress. All you need is a place for us to park and we do the rest!
About Us
PlaidyBus is perfect for kids and adults alike. We specialize in birthday parties, holiday parties, corporate events, team building activities, baby showers, fundraisers, bachelorette parties, home school groups and more. You may choose between a class or “Improv” painting. Our classes are led step-by-step by a professional art instructor in a fun, informal style. “Improv” painting allows guests the freedom to paint something of their choosing with an artist on hand to help with initial sketches and offer guidance throughout. Please reference our package options and painting gallery for inspiration. PlaidyBus seats up to 16 people at a time. More than 16 people? Guests can paint in consecutive time slots or we can set up on-site for larger groups. We would love to be a part of your special occasion and will creatively customize to best fit your event. We look forward to making art and memories with you!
Meet Katie!
Katie Wodtke is the founder and owner of PlaidyBus. She created Plaidybus based on her passions for creating fun, experience-based entertainment options and making art accessible for all. Having been an artist, teacher and manager in multiple capacities, she decided the next practical skill to master should be bus driver.
In 2008, Katie made Columbia her home after packing a rental truck and driving cross-country from San Francisco where she earned her BFA in sculpture. Since then, her focus shifted to painting and illustration with inspirations including pop art and children’s books.
When Katie isn’t making art or occupied by V.I.B.B. (Very Important Bus Business), you may find her trying new recipes, rearranging her home to fit more plants, or tearing up various karaoke stages across Columbia. More often, she is watching The Golden Girls and cuddling with her two sweet fluffy mutts Chewy and CoCo.
